The Global Mental Health Action Network launches a new Universal Health Coverage Working Group
The Global Mental Health Action Network is excited to launch a new Working Group on Universal Health Coverage (UHC), recognizing the importance of working towards integrating Mental Health into UHC, which has been highlighted as a key tenet of sustainable development per SDG 3.8. There is no health without mental health and Universal Health Coverage is no exception!
The aim of the group is to bring members together for joint advocacy, national campaigning, networking, resource sharing, learning and capacity building geared towards the integration of Mental Health into UHC. With World UHC Day fast approaching in December, there is an excellent opportunity to hit the ground running and engage with upcoming opportunities to influence key stakeholders.
While the Working Group will find different areas of focus and activity over time, initial deliverables for the group, subject to input from the Working Group members, include:
Developing campaign and advocacy ideas for integration of Mental Health into Universal Health Coverage
Learning from Technical Experts on advocacy, campaigning, policy and systems
Engaging in mapping of key events and stakeholders around Universal Health Coverage
Planning joint activities around World Universal Health Coverage Day
Creating advocacy toolkit to support December launch of Briefings from the UHC Report including an influencing guide; press release template and template letter to policymakers
Building relationships within the network for support and amplification of each other’s work
The first meeting of the UHC Working Group will take place in mid October.
