Throughout the year, we conduct webinars exploring various aspects and intersections of mental health, showcasing the transformative work being led by Action Network members.

These webinars offer diverse perspectives from the field including academics, UN agency representatives, civil society advocates, grassroots leaders, donors and more! Sessions are designed to spark thinking and provide insights into what global mental health means today, how it is practised and how change can happen. They are designed to offer practical solutions to address the most pressing challenges in mental health.

Upcoming #MHForAll Webinar:

WHO Mental Health Atlas Launch: State of the world’s mental health today

Tuesday 2nd September, 1-2 PM BST

Having timely, representative, good-quality data on mental health is essential to provide an evidence base for decision-making, drive policy change, ensure accountability, and make the case for increased investment and improved access to services. Critical aspects of public mental health surveillance range from the epidemiological assessment of mental disorders and associated needs for care and support, to the measurement and evaluation of mental health service inputs, throughput, outcomes and overall system performance.

In the absence of a standardised approach to the global collection and reporting of data on mental health policies, legislation, resources and services for mental health, the Mental Health Atlas initiative was established by WHO in 2000, with the first global report published in 2001. Several editions of the Atlas survey have since followed.

At this webinar, we will be exploring and discussing key findings and insights from the new edition of the Atlas. The latest global estimates on the epidemiology of mental health conditions and suicide will be shared, together with other data updates from the World Mental Health Report, providing a comprehensive overview of the state of the world’s mental health today.

Youth Reimagining Leadership in Mental Health

We often hear the terms youth leader, advocate, changemaker. When are these buzzwords and when do they hold real depth and direction? What happens when youth lead, and lead differently? In this webinar, we were joined by experts who are living these questions. They highlighted that youth leadership should not be about asking for permission, but instead leading and co-producing within our communities right now. The mental health community must help create enabling environments and spaces for young people from different backgrounds to show up uniquely, prioritising capacity strengthening of youth to strengthen confidence and enhance advocacy skills.

Replay the webinar now to learn more about the barriers that exist within the field and how we can champion authentic youth leadership.
