Beyond the High-Level Meeting on NCDs and Mental Health: Reflections, Implementation and Accountability
Tuesday 4th November, 1 PM - 2 PM GMT
The UN High-Level Meeting (HLM) on Non-Communicable Diseases (NCDs) and Mental Health is a historic milestone in tackling one of today’s greatest global health challenges. Nearly one billion people worldwide live with a mental health condition, yet most lack access to essential care and face stigma, discrimination, and violations of their rights. Prevention and supportive environments remain critically underdeveloped.
For the first time, Heads of State are convening to place mental health firmly on the global agenda and commit to meaningful change - but this is just the beginning. As international attention will inevitably begin to shift, the global mental health advocacy community will continue pushing for accountability and sustained progress.
In this webinar, experts and representatives from WHO and UNICEF will reflect on the journey to this pivotal moment and the outcomes of the political declaration. Together, we will discuss how governments, UN agencies, and civil society can transform commitments into meaningful and lasting reforms, locally, nationally, and globally. Join us to discover how we keep the momentum going, put accountability mechanisms in place, and better mental health for all!

State of the World’s Mental Health Today
On Tuesday 2nd September, the World Health Organization (WHO) launched the latest edition of the WHO Mental Health Atlas and the World Mental Health Today report. These publications provide the most comprehensive picture of the state of mental health worldwide. The Mental Health Atlas tracks progress in policies, funding, services, and workforce across 144 countries, revealing persistent gaps in investment and access to care. The World Mental Health Today report highlights the current lived reality, that more than one billion people currently experience mental health conditions, yet most lack adequate support.
